Itinerary
Day 1. Perth to Adelaide (D)
We collect you from home for your flight to Adelaide. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and transfer to the centrally located Majestic Roof Garden Hotel. Unwind from your journey before enjoying a relaxed welcome dinner.
Two nights: Majestic Roof Garden Hotel, Adelaide.
Day 2. Adelaide Exploring (BD)
Explore the many plant collections in the Adelaide Botanical Gardens, from the Garden of Health and Mediterranean Garden to the award-winning Rose Garden. Perhaps discover what is housed in the various buildings and conservatories. Next take a scenic cruise down the Torrens River taking in Adelaides changing landscapes while hearing from a local guide about the history and stories of this area. South Australia is known for it’s local produce and food which you can enjoy at the Adelaide Markets. In the afternoon, visit Carrick Hill, an estate in the Adelaide foothills. With spectacular views stretching to the ocean, Carrick Hill is Australia’s most intact period mansion, lovingly preserved. Finish this summer day with a stroll at the beach side suburb of Glenelg.
Day 3. Victor Harbor (BLD)
Begin the day touring in comfort to Victor Harbor. Visit picturesque Granite Island aboard a horse-drawn tramway across a 630-metre causeway. This afternoon, board the ‘Spirit of the Coorong’ for an exhilarating discovery cruise showcasing the wetlands, sand dunes, birdlife and history of the Murray Mouth and Coorong waterways. Indulge in lunch onboard, making for the ultimate cruise experience.
Overnight: Hotel Victor, Victor Harbor.
Day 4. Kangaroo Island ferry and local produce (BLD)
After breakfast at the hotel, we are departing from Hotel Victor and heading to the terminal for the Sealink ferry service. Enjoy a relaxing ferry ride before arriving at Penneshaw. Your Kangaroo Island exploring starts with a visit to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery with an insightful tour, followed by a delightful lunch. Afterward, head to Clifford's Honey for an engaging visit to learn about their unique products. Check in at your hotel to unwind and relax, ending the day with a delicious dinner.
Three nights: Mercure Island Lodge, Kangaroo Island.
Day 5. Flinders Chase National Park (BLD)
This morning, we venture to the west end of the island to explore the extraordinary natural beauty of Flinders Chase National Park, a vast reserve known for its diverse wildlife and dramatic landscapes. The park, covering over 30,000 hectares, is home to unique flora and fauna, including kangaroos, koalas and the endangered glossy black cockatoo. Enjoy a stop at the iconic Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, offering stunning views over the rugged coastline and the Southern Ocean. Marvel at the Remarkable Rocks, a collection of ancient granite boulders shaped by wind and weather into fascinating, otherworldly formations. Next, we will head to Admirals Arch, a spectacular natural rock arch where you can often spot playful sea lions lounging below. This incredible journey through Flinders Chase National Park showcases the island’s rugged charm and rich wildlife.
Day 6. Seal Bay, Raptor Park and Kingscote (BD)
Begin your morning meandering through the unspoilt wilderness at Seal Bay Conservation Park, an exquisite destination on Kangaroo Island where thousands of Australian sea lions colonise. Embrace this exceptional nature-based experience on the sand or venture along pristine boardwalks with uncaged views of these incredible endangered species. Next, we visit the Raptor Domain to learn about resident birds of prey, including wedge tailed eagles, owls and kookaburras. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure at the charming town of Kingscote, perhaps finding yourself a souvenir to remind you of your journey.
Day 7. Murray River cruising (BD)
Today we return to the mainland by ferry and travel to the delightful town of Strathalbyn for free time to wander and have some lunch before continuing on to Mannum. Here you will board the PS Murray Princess for a four-night luxury cruise. Mid-afternoon the Murray Princess departs historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade and communication and heads downriver while you enjoy a Welcome Dinner. As you cruise under floodlight to your overnight mooring at Murray Bridge, you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species.
Four nights: PS Murray Princess, Murray River Cruise.
Day 8. Murray River cruising (BLD)
Daybreak and it’s time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, wrens and swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising upriver to Blanchetown through one of 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of the river’s water.
This afternoon we moor opposite to the township of Blanchetown for our overnight anchorage.
As the last rays of the sun fade, we visit Burk Salter Boutique Winery and enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door which is fitted out with beautiful red gum bars. After dinner, join us for fun and excitement, participating in our “Murray River Cup”.
Day 9. Murray River cruising (BLD)
After breakfast we cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach. This town was first settled in the 1850s and was the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area, it’s now home to native flower and fruit growers. The original Swan Reach homestead is now the Swan Reach Hotel where you can enjoy an ale or cappuccino while overlooking the Murray River (additional cost).
Join a walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum (gold coin donation at entry). Cruise downriver after lunch and take in the tranquillity as the landscape slides by.
When we arrive at Sunnydale, it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for.
And then of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
Day 10. Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park (BLD)
After an optional early morning Bush Tucker Breakfast* or bush walk with the Captain, the vessel cruises slowly downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. We reach Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time – tens of thousands of years – for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about Aboriginal history in the area. We return to the vessel to cruise downriver to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure seekers can also take a scenic tender boat ride.
Tonight, join your fellow passengers for a delicious final night dinner and enjoy the evening entertainment.
Day 11. Farewell to the PS Murray Princes & home to Perth (BL)
Bid farewell to the PS Murray Princess and visit Hahndorf, known for its German heritage and picturesque streets lined with artisan shops, cafés and galleries. Here, you can immerse yourself in the quaint atmosphere and enjoy exploring its unique blend of history, culture and local craftsmanship. Besides some leisure time for exploring, you will enjoy a German- style farewell lunch before transferring to the airport for your evening flight to Perth. Upon arrival we will see you safely home.
Note: The Murray Princess itinerary may change due to water levels. Your daily itinerary will be placed at turn down in the evening in your cabin.

Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.
