Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Welcome to Mauritius (Inflight, D)
Depart Perth for Mauritius on your direct flight. Upon arrival, you will be met by our local guide and transferred to your hotel before enjoying your first dinner on the spectacular island.
Five nights: Mauricia Beachcomber Resort and Spa, Mauritius

Day 2. History, culture and life on Mauritius (BD)
After breakfast, set off for Port Louis, the lively capital of Mauritius. Visit Fort Adelaide for panoramic views of the city and harbor, then explore the Natural History Museum to discover the island’s unique wildlife, including the famous Dodo. Wander through the bustling Central Market, filled with colourful stalls, local crafts and fragrant spices, before ending the morning at the Le Caudan Waterfront, where shops, cafés and ocean views capture the charm and energy of the Mauritian capital.

Day 3. Port Louis and Pamplemousses Garden including lunch (BLD)
Begin your day with a visit to the beautiful Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, home to giant water lilies and exotic tropical plants. Continue to L’Aventure du Sucre, a former sugar factory turned museum, where you’ll discover the island’s rich sugar history before enjoying a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, head to Cap Malheureux, a charming fishing village known for its red-roofed church and stunning views of the northern islets, rounding off a day filled with nature, culture, and scenic beauty.

Day 4. Free Day at leisure (BD)
Today is yours to relax at the resort, go and explore the local shops or perhaps take an optional tour. On day 2, a representative will meet with you to present any tours that you may wish to book.

Day 5. Southern delights, volcanic crater, Chamarel and Waterfalls (BD)
Begin your day at Trou aux Cerfs, a dormant volcanic crater offering panoramic island views. Stop at Grand Bassin, the sacred lake and heart of Mauritius hindu culture. Continue through the scenic Black River Gorges, admiring the lush forest and mountain landscapes, stop for a photo at the 30 metre tall Hindu Statues before enjoying lunch and rum tasting at the Rhumerie de Chamarel. In the afternoon, visit the majestic Chamarel Waterfall and the nearby Seven Coloured Earths, where the striking natural sand dunes display vivid layers of red, brown and violet — a perfect finale to the day.

Day 6. Reunion Island (BD)
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to Mauritius Airport for your short flight to Reunion Island. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy your first dinner on Reunion Island.
Four nights: Akoya Hotel and Spa, Reunion Island

Day 7. Vanilla Farm, Cirque de Salazie, Hell-Bourg (BLD)
Start the day with a visit to the Roulof Vanilla Farm where you will learn all about vanilla farming and production from the traditional family business that has been running for more than 100 years. Continue on along the waterfall route to Cirque de Salzie, one of the islands three great volcanic cirques. Take in the lush green scenery with mountainsides covered in dense vegetation. Lunch today is in a Creole restaurant in what is said to be one of France’s most beautiful villages, Hell-Bourg. Traditional wooden houses with colourful facades and flower filled gardens have been lovingly preserved. Dinner this evening is a feet in the sand experience.

Day 8. Lunar landscapes and volcanic craters (BLD)
Venture into the heart of Reunion National Park, which is listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Stop at Nez de Boef viewpoint overlooking the Riviere des Remparts Valley which allows you to see the lunar landscape of Plaine des Sables. Continue to a viewpoint at 2300 metres overlooking the Piton de la Fournaise. Next you will stop at the Commerson Crater, an enormous and deeply dramatic with steep walls plunging down into its interior. From the roadside viewpoint, you can look directly into the crater and appreciate the immense scale of Réunion's volcanic landscape. Lunch will be in the village of Grand Bassin. In the afternoon, stop at Saga du Rhum Museum.

Day 9. Free day at leisure (BD)
Today is your day to enjoy the hotel, swim in the lagoon or take an optional tour.
This evening, be treated to a dinner with your feet in the sand at another local restaurant.

Day 10. Homeward bound (BL + inflight meal)
Take your time this morning with a midday checkout from your hotel before meeting for one final lunch on this magical island. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Mauritius and then onto your overnight flight home.

Look out for the feet when reading about a tour!

  • Relaxed

    Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

  • Moderate

    For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

  • Active

    For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

  • Highly Active

    Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

  • Challenging

    For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
