Featuring guided wildlife encounters, waterfall walks and the island's iconic Dolly Beach trek

Discover one of the Indian Ocean's most remote islands on this 8-day Christmas Island escape, ex-Perth. Explore the island's history and culture on a guided orientation tour, then venture out to The Dales' pristine springs and waterfall, The Blowholes & Boulder Track and Lily Beach's boardwalk through to Ethel Beach. Get up close with island wildlife at the Parks Bird Rehabilitation facility and Lizard Lodge, trek through the forest canopy to Dolly Beach — the island's only white sandy beach — and visit the historic Tai Jin House Museum. Evenings bring relaxed dinners at local restaurants, with time built in throughout the week to unwind by the pool or snorkel at Flying Fish Cove.
Itinerary
Day 1. Arrival & Welcome BBQ (D)
Your Christmas Island escape begins today. After arriving, you're escorted straight to the hotel to settle into your rooms, with a short shopping stop along the way to grab personal supplies. Finish the evening with a Welcome Beach BBQ dinner.
Seven nights: The Sunset / VQ3 Lodge, Christmas Island
Day 2. Island Orientation & Bird Rehabilitation (BLD)
Rise for a continental breakfast in your room, then join your guide for a Christmas Island Orientation Tour, taking in the island's history, culture and plenty of photo opportunities. Refuel with lunch at a local café, before returning to the hotel to rest. In the afternoon, head to the Parks Bird Rehabilitation facility for bird feeding, before returning to the hotel. Round out the day with dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 3. The Dales, Pink House Picnic & Lizard Lodge (BLD)
After breakfast in your room, set off on a tour to The Dales — pristine springs with a waterfall, reached via a boardwalk over some rougher terrain, with a light morning tea rest at the waterfall. Enjoy a picnic lunch at The Pink House, then visit Lizard Lodge to learn about the important conservation work protecting the island's reptiles. Return to the hotel to relax, or take the chance to snorkel at Flying Fish Cove, before dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4. The Blowholes, Boulder Track & South Point Temple (BLD)
Enjoy a morning visit to The Blowholes and Boulder Track, followed by a picnic lunch at South Point Temple, then return to the hotel to relax or snorkel at Flying Fish Cove. Dinner follows at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Grants Well to view the historical settlement, then enjoy afternoon tea at Margaret Knoll.
Day 6. Dolly Beach Trek (BLD)
After a continental breakfast in your room, set off on the Dolly Beach trek — a flat walk under the forest canopy to the island's only white sandy beach, with a light morning tea served on the beach. Back at the hotel, enjoy lunch around the pool and either relax or enjoy a snorkel.
Day 7. Free Day & Optional Walking Tour (BLD)
After breakfast, choose between an optional low-impact or high-impact walking tour. Enjoy a picnic lunch, then return to the hotel to spend the afternoon at your own pace.
Day 8. Tai Jin House Museum & Departure (BL)
Enjoy a cooked breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Visit the Tai Jin House Museum and nearby retail shops, then enjoy lunch at a local café before checking in for your onward flight.
Please note:
• Accommodation: This tour is based between two neighbouring properties in Settlement, VQ3 Lodge and The Sunset, located directly across the road from one another. VQ3 Lodge rooms include a private ensuite and guests have access to the swimming pool at the Sunset; The Sunset include a private ensuite and offers access to an outdoor swimming pool. Room allocations between the two properties are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
• Touring & fitness: Christmas Island doesn't offer a lot of soft touring. Most trail walks are considered Grade 5 in difficulty and require a good level of fitness, mobility and stability, particularly in the heat and humidity.
• Weather: Christmas Island is hot and humid most of the year. Dry Season runs approximately May–October, Wet Season October–April, and conditions can vary with La Niña/El Niño and the Indian Ocean Dipole.
• Food: Christmas Island is a remote destination with limited freight and shipping options, so meals are standard, fresh fare rather than gourmet dining. Please provide full details of any special dietary requirements in advance.
Itinerary is subject to change. Terms and conditions apply. Call 08 9754 2026 for details.
