Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Perth to Adelaide (D)
Your holiday begins with a courtesy home collection and transfer to Perth Airport for your flight to Adelaide. Settle in to your hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers.
Overnight: Majestic Roof Garden Hotel, Adelaide.

Day 2. Victor Harbor and Kangaroo Island (BD)
Travel to Victor Harbor this morning and board Australia’s only horse-drawn tramway for a scenic ride across the causeway to Granite Island. Enjoy lunch at your leisure before continuing to Cape Jervis for the ferry crossing to Kangaroo Island. Admire the dramatic coastline as you approach Penneshaw, then settle into your accommodation for a relaxed Christmas Eve dinner.
Five nights: Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, Kangaroo Island.

Day 3. Christmas Day – Emu Bay and Stokes Bay (BLD)
Merry Christmas! Begin your day exploring the serene northern coastline of Kangaroo Island. Visit the peaceful shores of Emu Bay and glimpse the quirky landmark George’s Castle from the coach. At Stokes Bay, recently voted Australia’s best beach, you can walk through a natural rock tunnel to discover a secret cove. Back at the hotel a festive Christmas lunch awaits with all the trimmings. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax or enjoy a quiet wander.

Day 4. Flinders Chase National Park (BLD)
Today, we venture to the west end of the island to explore the extraordinary natural beauty of Flinders Chase National Park, a vast reserve known for its diverse wildlife and dramatic landscapes. The park, covering over 30,000 hectares, is home to unique flora and fauna, including kangaroos, koalas, and the endangered glossy black cockatoo. One of our stops is the iconic Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, offering stunning views over the rugged coastline and the Southern Ocean. We will marvel at the Remarkable Rocks, a collection of ancient granite boulders shaped by wind and weather into fascinating, otherworldly formations. Next, we will head to Admirals Arch, a spectacular natural rock arch where you can often spot playful sea lions lounging below. This incredible journey through Flinders Chase National Park showcases the island’s rugged charm and rich wildlife.

Day 5. Lavender, Kangaroo Island Wool, Eucalyptus Distillery and Cider tasting (BLD)
Visit the Emu Bay Lavender Farm for their famous scones before embarking on a woollen odyssey at Kangaroo Island Wool. From early settlers through to today’s wool farmers, meet the people that have shaped Kangaroo Island’s wool legacy and enjoy a guided tour through a working mill. Lunch will be at the Eucalyptus Distillery followed by a cider or vodka tasting.

Day 6. Independence Project, Birds of Prey, Seal Bay and Kingscote (BLD)
Learn from volunteers about “The Rebuild Independence Project”. A fascinating effort from a group of volunteers working together to re-create the first ever vessel built in SA.
Next, we visit the Raptor Domain to learn about resident birds of prey, including wedge tailed eagles, owls and kookaburras. Enjoy a picnic lunch before meandering through the unspoilt wilderness at Seal Bay Conservation Park, an exquisite destination on Kangaroo Island where you can experience Australian sea lions. Embrace this exceptional nature-based experience on the sand or venture along pristine boardwalks with uncaged views of these incredible endangered species. Enjoy the afternoon wandering Kingscote in this lovely KI town.

Day 7. Kangaroo Island to Perth (BL)
This morning, we board the ferry back to the mainland and travel through Fleurieu Peninsula to Glenelg for a farewell lunch and time to explore the Esplanade, boutique shops and charming seaside atmosphere. In the afternoon, transfer to Adelaide Airport for your return flight to Perth. Upon arrival, we will see you safely home.

Our tour activity levels are a guide to the required fitness level for each of our holidays.


Look out for the feet when reading about a tour!

  • Relaxed

    Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

  • Moderate

    For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

  • Active

    For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

  • Highly Active

    Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

  • Challenging

    For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
