Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Perth to Brisbane (D)
Your Christmas in July holiday begins with courtesy home pick-up and transfers to Perth Airport for your flight to Brisbane. On arrival, your coach will transfer you to you’re a short drive north of Brisbane in North Lakes where you will enjoy a warm welcome dinner.
Overnight: Best Western, North Lakes Hotel

Day 2. Eumundi Markets, historic Maryborough and the mighty Bundaberg (BD)
The first stop today is at Australia’s largest artisanal markets in Eumundi. Wander the stalls, graze on some delicacies and take in the atmosphere. Continue travelling north to the birthplace of PL Travers, most famous for writing Mary Poppins. You will have time at leisure to explore historical buildings, such as the Story Bank Museum dedicated to the town’s most famous author, walk the famous art trail or browse the town centre. This afternoon, journey further north to Bundaberg.
Two nights: Takalvan Motel, Bundaberg

Day 3. Bundaberg; rum, turtles and gardens (BLD)
This morning visit, the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens with its various themed areas such as the Japanese Gardens, the rare fruit tree orchard, lakes and bird species. Perhaps take a 2 km ride on the miniature steam train. Next, visit the turtle centre, an indoor interactive experience about marine turtles. You will learn about the lives and the conservation efforts towards saving the endangered loggerhead turtles*. Lunch today will be at a Macadamia nut farm café where you may wish to browse their products. To finish the day, enjoy a tour of the Bundaberg Rum distillery.

Day 4. Island time of K’gari (BD)
Depart Bundaberg for the gorgeous town of Childers, a charming country town famous for preserved Edwardian heritage architecture. Then it’s off to Rivers Head before boarding your ferry for your island resort on K’gari. On arrival, spend some time settling in before coming together for a drink and then dinner in the Ballroom. Following dinner, experience Illumina “Return to Sky” light show, a captivating story of K’gari’s regeneration from the sustainably built amphitheatre.

Day 5. Full day 4WD Beauty Spots Tour (BLD)
Today brings a day full of adventure, exploring Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek, The Macheno Shipwreck, Seventy-Five Mile Beach and Eli Creek by 4WD. This evening, step into the Christmas spirit with a festive buffet dinner featuring all the traditional trimmings and mulled wine. Enjoy the lively ambience as the space comes alive with Christmas cheer. The fun continues with an interactive game of trivia, bringing plenty of laughs and friendly competition.

Day 6. Whale watching cruise and bush tucker talk (BLD)
Spend the morning on a cruise looking for humpback whales which are prolific in this area due to the sheltered waters which gives them a place to stop, rest and play. After lunch at the resort, enjoy some free time in the afternoon before enjoying a bush tucker talk and taste experience.
This evening, your farewell dinner will be an Aussie bbq buffet followed by a lively game of bingo.

Day 7. Depart the Fraser Coast for home (BL)
Today we say goodbye to K’gari as we travel to the airport for our flight home. Enjoying a break and lunch at Gympie along the way. Upon arrival back in Perth, we’ll see you safely home.

Our tour activity levels are a guide to the required fitness level for each of our holidays.


Look out for the feet when reading about a tour!

  • Relaxed

    Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

  • Moderate

    For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

  • Active

    For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

  • Highly Active

    Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

  • Challenging

    For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
