The time is now to join us for an unforgettable and sensational summertime experience aboard The Great Southern Train. Make cherished memories as we witness Australia’s everchanging landscapes and breathtaking scenes on a unique rail expedition from Brisbane to Adelaide. Jump off and on the rail journey to uncover hidden gems along the way and be awe inspired as you attend the Australian Outback Spectacular!
Itinerary
Day 1. Perth to Brisbane (D)
We collect you from home and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Brisbane. Upon arrival into Brisbane settle into your hotel with dinner.
Three nights: Rydges South Bank, Brisbane.
Day 2. Lone Pine Koala Park and Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens (BLD)
Begin the day with a heartwarming visit to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where you can get up close to Australia’s iconic wildlife in a peaceful, natural setting. Enjoy a relaxed group lunch surrounded by native bushland before heading to the serene Brisbane Botanic Gardens and Mt Coot-tha.
Day 3. Tamborine Mountain Skywalk, Glow worms and wine tasting (BLD)
Today we venture out of Brisbane to enjoy a day in the Tamborine Mountain area. We begin with the Tamborine Heritage Centre for a peek into the history of this area. Get a view of the beautiful rainforest vegetation of the area on the Tamborine Mountain skywalk before lunch at Cedar Creek. After lunch, you will get to enter a specially built cave to gaze upon thousands of glow worms before wandering freely through a purpose-built butterfly garden sanctuary.
Day 4. Great Southern Train Journey (BLD)
Today is the moment we step aboard our breathtaking Great Southern Rail Journey. After setting off from Brisbane, enjoy lunch onboard and a relaxing afternoon settling into your private cabin before arriving at the coastal town of Coffs Harbour. As the sun dips beneath the horizon, enjoy a unique beachside dinner feasting on local produce and fresh seafood matched with fine wines. Fall asleep on the train as you set off into the night.
Three nights: Great Southern Train.
Day 5. Great Southern Train Journey (BLD)
Start the day with a hearty breakfast on board before stepping off the Great Southern for a full day of Off Train Experiences. Today, you get to choose your own adventure with the choice of the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, or Newcastle. Meander through the picturesque and historic vineyards of the Hunter Valley, or you may choose to take in the stunning views of Port Stephens with the option of a land or sea tour. Alternatively, discover the vibrant mix of old and new in the beautiful coastal city of Newcastle on the Newcastle Explorer. In the evening, return to the train to enjoy a regionally inspired meal prepared on board before retiring for the night.
Day 6. Great Southern Train Journey (BLD)
After enjoying breakfast on board as you travel through Victoria's high country, you'll have a choice of Off Train Experiences. Discover regional Victoria with options including wine touring, gourmet delights and natural sights. Or opt to visit cosmopolitan Melbourne to see the city from a new perspective at Melbourne Skydeck, 88 floors above sea level or perhaps the MCG or Old Melbourne Gaol, all culminating in lunch at Eureka 89 within Eureka Tower, home to the Southern Hemisphere's tallest public observation deck, on Melbourne's South Bank.
Day 7. Adelaide to Perth (B)
Wake up to the beautiful rolling hills of South Australia. After breakfast, the Great Southern Train will arrive in Adelaide. After farewelling the tracks, enjoy getting the layout of Adelaide before having some free time to wander the vibrant Adelaide Central markets before we transfer you to the Adelaide Airport for your return flight to Perth. Upon arrival to Perth, we will see you safely home.

Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
