Follow Western Australia’s beautiful south-west coastline from Perth to Augusta on this five-day journey, staying four nights in the charming town where the Blackwood River meets the sea. Head out on a whale watching cruise, stand at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where two oceans meet and see the stingrays of Hamelin Bay. Taste wines made under the sea at Oceanmade Wines, browse vintage shops in Witchcliffe and taste the famous produce of the Margaret River region. This tour offers a wonderful balance of coastal scenery, local history and regional flavours.
Itinerary
Day 1. Perth to Augusta – South to the Coast (D)
We collect you from home to meet your coach crew and fellow travellers. Travel south to Amaze Miniature Park for morning tea and a wander among its tiny buildings and gardens, then enjoy lunch at leisure in Bunbury. Continue on to Augusta and settle in to your hotel before dinner together this evening.
Four nights: Augusta Motel, Augusta
Day 2. Augusta – Oceanmade Wines and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse (BLD)
Begin the day at Oceanmade Wines at the Augusta Boat Harbour, the Southern Hemisphere’s first open-ocean winery. Learn how its wines are fermented in vats 20 metres below the surface of Flinders Bay, then enjoy a tasting paired with local abalone, with views across the bay. After morning tea, visit the historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, and see the old water wheel. Enjoy lunch at the Colour Patch Café overlooking the Blackwood River, then learn about Augusta’s past at the Augusta Historical Society Museum. Return to the hotel for some free time before dinner.
Day 3. Augusta – Whale Watching and Hamelin Bay (BLD)
This morning head out on a whale watching cruise off Augusta to see these gentle giants in their natural home. Afterwards, enjoy a hearty lunch at the Karridale Tavern. Continue to Hamelin Bay, where you may see the graceful stingrays in the shallows, and finish the afternoon with a tasting at Hamelin Bay Wines before returning to Augusta for dinner.
Day 4. Witchcliffe, Prevelly and Margaret River (BD)
Start the day browsing the vintage shops and the Margaret River Candle Company in the little town of Witchcliffe. Enjoy morning tea with ocean views at the White Elephant Café in Prevelly, then spend time in Margaret River for lunch at leisure, exploring the cafés, shops and galleries along the main street. This afternoon, visit The Berry Farm to taste its jams, preserves and local produce before returning to Augusta for dinner.
Day 5. Augusta to Perth – Farewell to the South West (BL)
Begin the journey home along the South Western Highway, stopping at Melville Park Farm near Brunswick Junction for morning tea. Continue through Harvey to the Drakesbrook Hotel in Waroona for a farewell lunch together, before travelling on to Perth where you will be taken safely home.

Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions.
