Itinerary
Day 1. Perth to Albany – Through the Darling Ranges (D)
Depart Perth and travel south through the scenic Darling Ranges, enjoying changing landscapes as farmland gives way to rolling hills. Continue through the Wheatbelt with stops along the way before arriving in Albany, Western Australia’s first settlement, where coastal beauty and rich history set the scene for the days ahead.
5 nights: Ace Accommodation, Albany
Day 2. Albany – National Anzac Centre and Historic Precincts (BD)
Today is dedicated to Albany’s powerful military history. Visit the Princess Royal Fortress and the acclaimed National Anzac Centre, where personal stories and immersive displays bring the Anzac legacy to life. Continue to Albany’s cultural precincts, including the Entertainment Centre and Museum of the Great Southern, for deeper insight into the region’s social and maritime history.
Day 3. King George Sound and Kalgan River Cruise (BLD)
Begin the day with coastal scenery at Middleton Beach before boarding a scenic wildlife and history cruise. Travel across King George Sound and into the ancient Kalgan River, spotting birdlife and marine creatures while learning about the area’s natural and cultural heritage. After lunch, visit Darrel Radcliffe’s Bush Gallery to admire his remarkable chainsaw-carved timber sculptures.
Day 4. Denmark and Greens Pool – Coastal Beauty (BLD)
Travel west to Denmark, stopping to enjoy local stories and scenic views. Lunch is enjoyed in a picturesque setting before heading to Greens Pool, where calm turquoise waters are framed by granite boulders and white sand. Time here allows for relaxed exploring, photography or simply soaking in one of Western Australia’s most beautiful beaches.
Day 5. Discovery Bay and Torndirrup National Park (BD)
Uncover Albany’s whaling history at Discovery Bay with a guided visit to the historic Whaling Station. Continue to Torndirrup National Park to witness the raw power of the Southern Ocean at The Gap and Natural Bridge. This afternoon blends heritage with flavour and character as you visit historic Strawberry Hill and a fascinating local collection before enjoying a special farewell dinner.
Day 6. Albany to Perth – Farewell to the Great Southern (BL)
Begin the journey back to Perth, travelling north through pastoral landscapes and charming country towns. Enjoy a relaxed farewell lunch along the way before arriving back in Perth, where you will be met and taken safely home.

Relaxed
Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
