Travel north through WA’s heartland to the Pilbara and Coral Coast. Explore Karijini’s rust-red gorges, stay two nights at Karijini Eco Retreat, and tour Mount Whaleback mine. Continue to Exmouth for a Yardie Creek cruise in Cape Range National Park, then to Coral Bay for a glass-bottom boat coral cruise. Call in at Bullara and Wooramel Stations, visit the Carnarvon Space Museum and wind home via Geraldton and Jurien Bay.
Itinerary
Day 1. Perth to Dalwallinu (LD)
We collect you from home and travel north for morning tea and a look through the Bindoon Museum. Continue to New Norcia for a guided town tour with a local, hearing stories of this unique monastic settlement. Arrive in Dalwallinu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Overnight: The Wheatland Motel, Dalwallinu
Day 2. Dalwallinu to Meekatharra (BD)
Head into the Mid West, calling at Paynes Find and Mount Magnet to touch on early gold mining history. Pass through the historic town of Cue and arrive in Meekatharra to relax before dinner.
Overnight: Auski Inland Motel, Meekatharra
Day 3. Meekatharra to Newman (BLD)
Continue north with a picnic lunch en route to Newman. Join a guided tour of the Mount Whaleback iron ore mine, one of the world’s largest open-cut operations. Please wear closed shoes, long sleeves and long pants for the tour.
Overnight: Red Sands, Newman
Day 4. Karijini National Park (BLD)
Travel into Karijini National Park and settle into your eco-luxe safari tent at Karijini Eco Retreat. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon soaking up the outback setting and a star-filled night sky. Nights can be very cold, so warm layers are essential.
Overnight next two nights: Karijini Eco Retreat, Karijini National Park
Day 5. Karijini National Park (BLD)
Explore the park’s striking landscapes, including Dales and Joffre Gorges with time at Fortescue Falls and scenic lookouts. Enjoy a picnic lunch and learn about the area’s geology and flora.
Day 6. Karijini to Exmouth (BD)
Leave the Hamersley Range and cross to the coast. Stop at Cheela Plains Station for morning tea, then continue via Nanutarra to Exmouth for a relaxed evening.
Overnight next two nights: Potshot Hotel Resort, Exmouth
Day 7. Cape Range National Park (BLD)
Enter Cape Range National Park for a Yardie Creek boat cruise, watching for black-footed rock wallabies and birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch and coastal views before returning to Exmouth.
Day 8. Bullara Station and Coral Bay (BLD)
Call in at Bullara Station for a taste of station life, then continue to Coral Bay for a glass-bottom boat cruise over Ningaloo Reef’s coral gardens. After lunch, visit the Carnarvon Space Museum and stay overnight in Carnarvon.

Day 9. Carnarvon to Geraldton (BD)
Travel south to Wooramel Station for a visit and morning tea, with time to hear the station story. Continue to Geraldton for dinner and an overnight stay.

Follow the coast to Jurien Bay for a farewell lunch, then continue to Perth where we see you home safely.

Relaxed
Designed for travellers with lower mobility who can manage everyday movement independently. You must be able to embark and disembark coaches, trains, and other transport via steps, carry your own luggage, and walk short distances. Stairs may be encountered at times. Walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome. Travellers who bring a companion to help provide assistance may find these holidays suitable.

Moderate
For travellers who walk confidently and unaided. In addition to Relaxed requirements, expect guided walking tours that may include gentle inclines and stair climbs, some longer days, and multiple hotel changes. Access to accommodation may involve stairs, short walks to facilities, and showers over baths. Walking sticks are welcome unless the tour includes overnight rail or cruising—please check with staff.

For travellers comfortable with full sightseeing days. Building on Moderate requirements, these tours feature more activities, extended periods of standing and walking, and nature-based excursions. You must be able to walk confidently over uneven surfaces at a steady pace, and negotiate busy transport terminals. Expect feature walks for up to 3 hours, and activities that may include small aircraft, vehicles, vessels and watercraft. Not suitable for travellers requiring walking aids or assistance from others.

Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

For travellers with a high level of fitness and previous outdoor experience. Building on Highly Active requirements, these tours involve full days of physical activity in remote or rugged locations that may be difficult to access. You must be able to walk confidently for 6 or more hours per day over multiple days while carrying a day pack and be comfortable walking in varied weather conditions. Not suitable for travellers using walking aids or requiring assistance.
