Your holiday itinerary (ex Perth, Western Australia)

Day 1. Perth – Board the Indian Pacific (D)
Your grand adventure begins as you are collected from your door and transferred to the terminal to board the magnificent Indian Pacific. As the train glides out of Perth, settle into your elegant private cabin and toast the beginning of a once-in-a-lifetime transcontinental journey. Tonight’s dinner is a celebration of contemporary Australian cuisine, paired with fine local wines. Relax with newfound friends as you roll into the wild landscapes of inland WA under a velvet sky.
4 Nights: Indian Pacific

Day 2. Kalgoorlie & Cook – Outback Encounters (BLD)
Dawn breaks over the red earth of Kalgoorlie, a town forged by gold and steeped in history. Choose from curated Off Train Experiences that delve into the story of this frontier town—from its gold rush roots to its colossal modern-day Super Pit mine. Enjoy morning refreshments before reboarding and settling in for a luxurious day on the rails. As the Indian Pacific slices through the vast, treeless Nullarbor Plain, enjoy stunning views, delicious meals and the unique camaraderie of life aboard. Tonight, arrive at the eerie outpost of Cook, once a bustling settlement, now a near-deserted ghost town. Gather around a glowing bonfire beneath the immense outback sky for stargazing and storytelling—an unforgettable outback experience.

Day 3. Flinders Ranges & Barossa Valley (BLD)
Watch the sunrise illuminate the pastoral landscapes of South Australia as the train rolls past the majestic Flinders Ranges and shimmering Spencer Gulf. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and lunch in the dining car as the scenery shifts from arid scrub to fertile plains. Mid-afternoon, disembark at Two Wells and travel by coach into the heart of the famed Barossa Valley. Arrive at the historic Seppeltsfield Winery for an extraordinary evening of indulgence. Witness the dramatic ‘Firing of the Barrel’ ceremony before being seated for a sumptuous food and wine pairing experience. Executive Chef Owen Andrews presents a menu that draws on the heritage and produce of the region, matched perfectly with Seppeltsfield’s finest vintages. As twilight descends over the vines, return to the Indian Pacific and continue your journey eastward.

Day 4. Broken Hill – Art & History in the Silver City (BLD)
Cross into New South Wales overnight and awaken in Broken Hill, an iconic outback town brimming with heritage and heart. After breakfast, choose from a selection of enriching Off Train Experiences, including guided tours of historic buildings, galleries showcasing the works of Pro Hart and local artists or visits to cultural centres that tell the town’s remarkable story. Return to the train in time for a relaxing lunch as you travel through remote farming regions and small towns that dot inland New South Wales. Tonight, enjoy your final dinner on board as the Indian Pacific winds toward the majestic Blue Mountains.

Day 5. Blue Mountains & Arrival in Sydney (BLD)
After a hearty breakfast, disembark in the breathtaking Blue Mountains—where ancient cliffs, lush rainforest and dramatic valleys await. Choose your adventure: take in stunning views from above on the Scenic Skyway and Cableway, descend into the Jamison Valley on the world’s steepest passenger railway or enjoy a guided walk through the bush, surrounded by native flora and birdsong. Both options conclude at Echo Point, where you will savour a light lunch overlooking the iconic Three Sisters. In the afternoon, board a chartered NSW rail service hosted by our crew, rolling into Sydney’s Central Station in style. We transfer you to your hotel located on Darling Harbour. Our tour activity levels are a guide to the required fitness level for each of our holidays.

Look out for the feet when reading about a tour!

  • Relaxed

Suitable for travellers with lower mobility.

You will be required to embark/disembark coaches, trains and other transport via steps unaided. You must be able to carry your own luggage and walk short distances. Stairs may need to be negotiated at times. Travellers with walking aids (sticks and walkers) are welcome and those requiring accompanying assistance and/or carer may consider these holidays.

  • Moderate

Required to walk confidently and unaided.

Expect guided walking tours of attractions with occasional inclines and stair climbs, some long days and multiple hotel changes during the holiday. Your accommodation may require access via stairs, a short walk to reach hotel facilities and have showers over baths.  Travellers with walking sticks are welcome unless there is overnight rail or overnight cruising - please check with staff.

  • Active

Requires some fitness. Involves longer days filled with activities, excursions requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time and nature-based activities. You will be required to walk confidently over uneven ground and surfactant at a timely pace.

  • Highly Active

Requires good general fitness. Excursions will be over more difficult terrain and require a certain level of agility. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 3 hours over uneven surfaces including soft sand, rocky surfaces and creek crossing. Some itineraries will explore remote locations. No walkers allowed.

  • Challenging

A high level of fitness is required. Tours have an emphasis on active pursuits and often explore remote locations which are challenging to access. You will be required to walk confidently for up to 6 or more hours per day and have experience in outdoor pursuits. No walkers allowed.

Your health, wellbeing and enjoyment of the holiday is very important to us. In order to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff and suppliers, electric scooters and buggies are not permitted on Villa tours.

Anyone providing care or assistance to others must be fit and able to provide the required support and care.
